A driver hit my bike and then fled the scene.……………………

On Monday, a scooter crashed into my bike in Vijay Enclave, damaging my silencer. I asked the rider for his insurance details, but he claimed it wasn't his bike and promised to pay for the damages the next day since he had no cash. I collected proof, including his number and a video of the incident. Now, he isn't answering my calls and is delaying the matter. There were two passengers without helmets, and I regret not filing an FIR initially, as he seemed decent at the time.

Since you’ve already got proof like the video and his number, that works in your favour. Even though you didn’t file an FIR immediately, you still can. There's no strict time bar on lodging a police complaint for such incidents, especially when there's property damage and now the other party is avoiding responsibility. Also, if the scooter number is visible in your video, that will help trace the owner officially through the RTO.

You can still file an FIR with the nearest police station, explain the delay in filing the FIR. Time is essence however delay in filing of FIR is not barred or bad in law. Please the necessary steps immediately

Hi there, you are within limitation to file the FIR. Police might cause some drama but will have to register it based on the proofs. You can then compel him toh appear and accept guilt. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

kindly give a written complaint to the local police station of accident area, and you should register an FIR against that person. On the basis of FIR, you can file your case against them. you can call me to discuss your issue.
