It is very relevant if tenent and landlord has entered into a any rent agreement prior to tenency.
In the presence of agreement the clauses shall be looked upon for notice, shifting etc.
In the absence of agreement it is the mutual understanding which shall prevail and if not tenent can bring upon suit for damages or suit for injunction upon landlord after giving notice accordingly and pray for stay orders from eviction court of law.
It being very deep issue you should contact your lawyer.
