How to claim insurance for the car that was stolen 2 years ago

13-Mar-2023 (In Insurance Law)
My car was stolen almost 2 years ago. I finished all the formalities with the police (they filed an FIR a week after I gave a written complaint), and then I submitted all necessary documents to my insurance agent. After a month or so, he said that he had misplaced the documents and that he'll prepare another set of those. Now he says that he submitted the documents in the regional office and they might not have taken any action as the FIR was filed a week after the incident. So what should my next step be? PS : He insists me on complaining to regional branch officer that I had been to the regional office along with the agent when he submitted the documents. Should I do as he says or stick to truth? (I'm confused as I haven't received any acknowledgment after submitting documents to the agent)

In such cases it is your duty to inform the company and also the police authority immediately as per the terms and conditions. Non receipt of acknowledgement copy is unpaedanable mistake from your end. It is advisable that in case of theft of motor vehicles insured shall inform the company and not brokers or agents. However, now you have the option to file consumer case. Two years is a limitation period to file consumer case. Immediately contact advocate and file the case. Since you have informed the police you have the chance of getting the insurance amount.
