Wherever the word ?year? or the word ?month? is used, it is to be understood that the year or the month is to be reckoned according to the British calendar.
Only a man can commit the offence if he has sexual relations with the spouse of another man without his consent or knowledge. The wife cannot be punished for adultery or as an accomplice to the crime for which a man may (but not always) spend five years in prison.
