As per new Indian Criminal law, IPC Section 17 has been replaced with BNS Section 2 with effect from July 1, 2024.
(Words “Government of a State” are replaced by “State Government”.)

Please refer to BNS 2 for updated procedures & punishments.

The word ?Government? denotes the Central Government or the Government of a State.
