Schengen visa application for a ongoing DUI case

23-Dec-2025 (In Immigration Law)
Hi, I wanted to check if one can apply for schengen if there is an ongoing FIR for DUI and minor car accident. The case is currently in court. Nothing major. One car hit another. FIR lodged. Can schengen be applied?

Hi, In cases of minor accidents with no grievous injury, no conviction, and no travel restriction, Schengen countries generally do not reject applications solely on this ground. However, full and honest disclosure is important. If the visa form asks about criminal cases, the pending case must be declared with a brief explanation and supporting documents.

Yes, you can apply for a Schengen visa despite an ongoing FIR or court case for DUI/minor accident. There is no automatic bar unless you are convicted, absconding, or under a travel restriction. Disclose facts honestly.
