Younger son paid lump sum to parents, can they ask for monthly expense

Hi, After my marriage, my parents was staying with me. But after few months they started arguing with my wife without any reason. I told this story to my elder brother and sister. Then my brother demanded 2 lacs to me and told that he will take care of parents. I was agree and given 2 lacs for her wife business. After 3-4 years, they served legal notice to me and demanding monthly maintenance cost to parents. My question is whether my parents can file case against me if I don't pay them monthly fixed amount of money because I already given them lot and I don't have extra money with me. Already having 10 lacs of loan and addition to that extra expenses of my son health issue and school. My elder brother don't have any loan and he has 2 properties which me and my parents helped him.

These all thing will come on record if they file for maintenance from you in the court. Till then keep calm. and keep record of maintenance or expenditure made towards parents and brothers family. Contact lawyer if they file case.

As per your query Maintaining parents is responsibility of their children. As per law your parents have the right to claim maintenance from their children if they fail to maintain them. Your parents can make an application stating all the facts to the competent court. Regards
