The legal age to get married in India is 21 years for boys and 18 years for girls. Since you were 26 years old and your wife was 18 years old, you both were legally entitled to get married, having crossed the barrier of 18 and 21 years respectively. Thus, actually there should be no trouble in getting your marriage registered. For the registration of marriage you need to prepare the documentation which includes the address, identification and the age proof for both the husband and wife. besides this you need to have a certificate from a gazetted officer certifying that he was witness to your marriage and that he has personally known both of you. Also, you need a copy of the marriage card and 2 witnesses for the registration.

Hello,

Probably you are wrong on your facts, the law on the same is as follows:

The prohibition of Child Marriage Act states that a girl in India can't marry before 18 and boy can't marry before completing 21 years of age. This rule has been there since time immemorial and was perhaps kept taking in view the prevailing environment during that period of time.

Please share your grievance in details with me so that I can help you in a better way and help you in getting your registration done.

Thanks and Regards
