In a joint ownership, there is always a scope of claim by the other person of his/her where in such property. The same rule applies in case your mother does without aleanating has property in a proper manner. In case of a will you have to go through a legal procedure. My advice would be to ask your mother to gift such property in your name.

Your mother can gift in favour of you her undivided share of the property. Stamp duty and registration fees are very nominal and then and there joint undivided share will be transferred in favour of you.

Hello,
You should go for will. If it's a joint property and your mother dies intestate (without making a will), then all the legal owner will get the equal share of her share in the property. If you want absolute ownership then ask you mother to make a registered will.
