Treatment of dowry articles at the end of trial

12-Sep-2023 (In Family Law)
Chargesheet has been filled with 498a,406,23/34. Dowry list has been attached. In my case 6 lac deposited in my account for the purchase of households on thier own wish. This 6lac is attached in dowry list with the chargesheet. My question 1) after the completion of trial what order could be given by court in terms of giving back the money or households purchased in lieu of that money. Police has not made any recovery during arrest. In nutshell after trial have I give to money back or households to girl party

Hi
we will need to see the charge sheet and FIR for us to understand on the exact wordings used by police for the 6lakhs.
for example if the 6 lakhs is prior to marriage(atleast 2/3 months before marriage) then 498a will not apply. however if 6 lakhs is given after the marriage, 498a will be applicable and penalties might be in accordance to law.
the court might order for return of household goods and return of money in case the 6lakhs was received prior to marriage
