Staying at my parent's house after marriage
22-Dec-2024 (In Family Law)
Hello,
I am 32F.
My mother in law is a very toxic and narcissist person. She keeps an eye on my every movement from morning using the toilets till sleeping at night. I am not allowed to use washing machine and have to wash my clothes by hand. I don't have any issue in wash clothes by hand, but I am not even given space to hang my clothes to dry. She keeps watch how many times I wash my hands, and if at all I miss washing my hands, she starts arguments. She takes my salary, and I am not even given access to anything in the house.
I have involved his aunt who fixed the marriage as well, and they have visited my inlaws and had a discussion regarding their treatments towards me. but inlaws have only blamed me, saying that I don't adjust in that house, I back answer and argue and fight with them
It's been 3 months, and I am staying at my parent's place. My husband hasn't contacted me even
What are the chances that my husband will take any legal action as I am staying at my parent's place?
He can at max file for a suit for Restitution of Conjugal Rights to call upon the court to issue orders against you to live with him however court cant compel you to do so if you can prima facie bring forth the cruelty on their part.
You have more legal remedies than your husband if the circumstances mentioned can be proved before the court.
Having said that it is advisable to file for Mediation in family court in your district.
