Sir, I and my husband have done marriage in a sikh temple and then we get protection from court like the arya samaj marriage is done. We do have the certificate from gurudwara but my family don't know about this and i am applying for Canada study visa . I want to update my marital status from single to married in my file which can be done only if the date of marriage is the date after the lodgement of visa application in embassy. I haven't registered the marriage yet and wanna ask you that Can i change the date of marriage with the help of a lawyer before registering it so that the date on marriage certificate is the date after the lodgement of visa application in embassy?

no, legally you can not change the date of marriage. however you may go for special marriage for that purpose, the date of marriage would be after visa application date. . no, legally you can not change the date of marriage. however you may go for special marriage for that purpose, the date of marriage would be after visa application date.
