Separation from my family Member

12-Nov-2024 (In Family Law)
My father made a decision that the whole family supported, but I strongly against with it. This decision caused me a lot of emotional distress. Over the next 10 months, I broke down emotionally, and constant arguments led to depression. Eventually, I told my father I didn’t want any relationship with them. I leave the house, leaving a note but they are searching for me. How can I stop them from spreading my picture online and from continuing to search for me? Please help. Thank you. ( Age.22 )

You can file a complaint in your local police jurisdiction or send a legal notice to them for refraining themselves from circulating your photographs or making false reports as the same causing harassment and torture to you. For better advice feel free to contact. Thanks

At 22, you are legally an adult and have the right to make your own decisions, including living independently. To stop your family from spreading your picture online and searching for you, start by ensuring your safety and asserting your intentions clearly. If safe, send a written message or letter to your family explaining that you have left voluntarily, are safe, and do not wish to be contacted, requesting they respect your privacy. Notify the local police that you are not missing but have left voluntarily to prevent unnecessary searches or involvement. If your family shares your picture or personal information online, file a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell to have the content removed and address misuse of your image. You can also send a legal notice through a lawyer requesting them to cease sharing your details or conducting searches against your wishes. Ensure you stay in a secure location, possibly with trusted friends or at a shelter, and do not disclose your address to anyone who might reveal it to your family. If you feel harassed, document evidence such as screenshots or messages to support any future legal action. While dealing with the emotional challenges of leaving your family, consider seeking support from a counselor or support group to process your feelings and help you move forward. Balancing legal steps with emotional support will help you maintain your independence and privacy while addressing any potential overreach by your family. If needed, trusted advisors or legal professionals can assist in drafting notices or navigating police and cybercrime processes to protect your rights effectively.
