Posting a minors photos without permission from parent

30-Aug-2026 (In Family Law)
Hi, my sister-in-law keeps posting my child’s photos on social media. He is a minor (age 4). I’ve repeatedly asked her not to do this. She keeps doing it. Is there anything I can do legally to stop this?

Yes you can explore legal options to restrain her from doing this illegal act of posting photos without your consent. You may connect and seek consultation. Get an intallah peshbandi application filed through a lawyer. Further a suit can also be filed

I am sure your sister in law does not have any malice towards you or child and she is only posting the photos on social media out of her love for the child. try and get other family members involved if you wish that she does not post such pictures on social media if everything fails consider sending her legal notice through an advocate

Yes, as she is not the parent or legal guardian of the child and without free consent of the parents or legal guardian she does not have the right to publish photos of a child. Legal action can be taken against her for evading the privacy by posting your son's photo on social media. You can report this issue on the social media platform which she is using to publish your son's photo further you can contact an advocate for sending a notice to your sister-in-law restraining from posting photos of your child in social media, if she still posts the photos a suit will be filed against her.

you can explore appropriate injunctive relief from the court and other remedies depending on the circumstances, including whether the posts are harmful, defamatory, commercial, or otherwise infringe the child’s privacy.

If you have repeatedly asked your sister-in-law not to post your minor child's photographs and she continues to do so, you may take legal steps to protect the child's privacy. First, send her a written notice clearly withdrawing your consent and asking her to remove all photographs and refrain from uploading them in future. Preserve screenshots, URLs and copies of your requests as evidence. You may also report the posts to the concerned social-media platform. If she still continues, you can consult a family/civil lawyer regarding appropriate injunctive relief to restrain further publication, depending on the facts and your legal rights as the child's parent/guardian. If the photographs are being used in a harmful, defamatory, commercial or otherwise objectionable manner, additional legal remedies may be available.
