1. Legal Provisions Applicable: If your wife and her family are repeatedly threatening you for money, the following IPC sections may apply: Section 384 IPC – Extortion Section 503 IPC – Criminal intimidation Section 506 IPC – Punishment for criminal intimidation Section 107 CrPC – Security for keeping the peace 2. Steps You Can Take: A. File a Detailed Complaint: Since the issue has persisted despite a prior warning by police, you can now: File a fresh written complaint with the local police station with complete facts and request for FIR under the above-mentioned IPC sections. Attach any proof like CCTV footage, witness statements, audio/video recordings, or written threats if available. B. Approach the Magistrate: If the police are not taking action: You can file a private complaint under Section 200 CrPC before the jurisdictional Magistrate. Request for action under Sections 156(3) CrPC directing the police to register an FIR. C. Request for Protection: File a petition under Section 107 CrPC before the Executive Magistrate requesting a bond of good behavior from them. If threats are serious, seek police protection for yourself and your family through written application to the DCP/ACP level officers. D. Keep Records: Maintain a log of every incident – date, time, nature of threat, and witnesses. Safely store all evidence that can support your version if things escalate in court. If you'd like, I can help you draft a formal police complaint or a petition to the Magistrate. Let me know how you’d like to proceed.
