My fiancé is from Denmark (35M, Christian) and I'm from West Bengal (30 F, Hindu). We have decided to get married and while his parents are overjoyed, mine is close to disowning me. Please let me know how to register our marriage under Special Marriage Act. He's currently in Denmark gathering all the necessary documents, but we don't have a very clear idea about what exactly is needed and the procedure. Can we register our intent online on https://rgmwb.gov.in/ while he is still in Denmark or do we have to physically visit the registrar together? Please advise.

the only requirement is when you register the marriage your fiance and you both would have to visit the registrar office together with your witnesses. for applying there is no such requirement and your address proof and residence status would be enough. but it would always be a safe bet to first try to locate the registrar under whom you want to register your marriage and then have a talk with him or her directly. regards, Tanmoy Chattopadhyay, M.Sc (Net), LL.M (Delhi), Advocate, High Court, Calcutta.

dear client, you should contact the marriage registrar office of your concerned area, they will provide you with a form which is quite detailed one..fill it , pay the fees required and the they will give you the date.. for further clarification contact me
