In India, there isn't a specific, uniform limitation period for filing a notice of motion across all courts and legal contexts. The limitation period for a notice of motion is determined by the specific rules of the court where the motion is being filed and the nature of the relief sought.

If you want to move a motion before the Court then you need to file the same in advance, unless, the relief you are seeking is urgent in which case you can move before the Court immediately on the same day. Feel free to contact me for seeking any legal advice as regards the same.

As an advocate, Under the Indian legal system, while there isn't a universally fixed number of days for all motions across all courts and types of cases, the general principle is that motions should be filed with reasonable expedition to allow the court and the opposing party sufficient time to consider them. For most interlocutory applications, it is advisable to file at least 3-7 days in advance of the scheduled court date. However, for more substantial applications or those requiring detailed responses, providing 10-14 days notice would be prudent to avoid the judge deeming the motion belated and potentially denying it on grounds of insufficient notice or an attempt to delay proceedings. Always check the specific rules of the concerned court (e.g., Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, High Court Rules, or Tribunal Regulations) and any practice directions, as some courts may have specific timelines for certain types of motions.
