Firstly you should approach to Marriage Registrar along with Photo ID and Address proof , and two Witnesses each, register your name for marriage , the Marriage Registrar will give you 1 Months time meanwhile the communicate your intention to local police station to check any offence is registered with your name, after expiry of one month you can legally marry.

Yes definitely this is possible. Your friend has to get his marriage registered under Special Marriage Act. He needs to visit the local registration office and file a notice for marriage after filling up the form and furnishing the identification documents of the bride and groom. Please note that the identification documents of 3 witnesses are also required. After a month they can get the marriage registered. This is the best way to legalise an inter faith marriage.
