file a case against neighbours
10-May-2025 (In Family Law)
Sir, we have a registered shop below our house which operates only 2–4 days in a month, and that too for just 2–3 hours. Our neighbors keep harassing us over this and often get into fights with us, causing mental torture. Meanwhile, they themselves run a sofa-making business from their house and on the street, yet we never say anything to them. They constantly abuse us, and although we stay silent for the sake of peace and our mental please suggest some legal advice against them

Dear
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Based on your query, you have the following legal options and remedies under Indian law to protect your rights and well-being:

Section 506 IPC – Criminal intimidation.
Section 509 IPC – Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty (if female family members are targeted).

Under Section 107/151 CrPC, you may approach the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) seeking preventive action against your neighbours for their aggressive and violent behaviour, which may cause a breach of peace.
