Do we have to pay toxic parents?

My mother in law has quarreling nature and always listens to her daughter.if she is not living with us, do we have to pay her?
Both sons and daughters are required to maintain their parents as per the statue. Instead of paying her directly you can pay for her living expenses. However, daughter-in-law is not required to do so.
