Do daughters get a share in grandfathers self acquired property.

03-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
Hi sir , I am from Hyd. Do I possess share in my grand father's owned property as a grand daughter., i asked my father but he is refusing to give. I dont have any brothers but I have two sisters One sister is got married. I asked her but she is not showing interest in asking.what do i have to do? My father sold out one plot for my married sister. Now he is telling that he would sell another plot for another sister's marriage. Me and my married sister got married at just about 20yrs without any professional education even after having 80% of marks in Inter, just made us done degrees in open university but he made my small sister a CA .Now he is spending all the money he is earned for only my small sister. we did n't make him spent on us before and even after marriage.I feel there is no equality in the family. If i ask this , he is saying my work is over with both of you, I only look after my unmarried daughter. How can we proceed with this,we are also having two kids.

Hi
Ever since the passage of amendment of hindu succession act in the year 1986 by Late Shri.N.T.Rama rao, married daughters have right on ancestral properties also.
So assuming you got married after 30-09-1985(i.e date of passage of hindu succession act) you have every right to claim a share of property belonging to your grand father.
you can file a suit claiming for share of properties in lok adalat.
Lok adalat is also a court, but disputes are settled at pre-litigation stage itself in presence of the judge by the family members themselves.
Lok adalat is cheaper, faster and no lawyers are also required to fight your case.
