Demand by son unaffordable bike

29-Sep-2026 (In Family Law)
Sir, My son is studying in engineering college in third year, demanding bike cost of 335000 and its mileage in city commute is near about 20-22 km per liter. Which is not affordable to me as I am earning limited and also I have other expenses to bear as college fees, other households. He is not listening to anyone, his mother is from his side, I am ready to give another bike having average mileage. He is becoming incontrollable. This is very crucial time to me. What is the way for me.

You should clearly explain to your son that ₹3.35 lakh is beyond your present financial capacity and offer a reliable, fuel-efficient bike within your budget. If he is becoming uncontrollable, involve a trusted family elder or counsellor and set a firm financial boundary rather than taking on debt for the bike.

Sir there is no way.. you need to parent him he needs to understand your situation, it’s my suggestion that you tell him that sure, I’m lacking only 50,000/- ₹ you go and earn and give me 50,000₹ and we’ll get you your bike.. If he does anything wrong you’ll have to take care Of the same.. it’s really a parenting question advocates cannot help you.. There might come a time when he will threaten you with suicide too.. stay strong sir..

Explain calmly that the bike is beyond your financial capacity. Set firm limits, prioritise education and household expenses, and offer an affordable alternative. Avoid arguments; consider family counselling if his behaviour escalates.
