Dear Sir/Madam,nMy fiancée had registered her 1st marriage in court(Hindu Act) & thereafter got divorced & it' been 5 years now. We are planning to get married in court; however, we don't want to show her details of her 1st marriage during the registration process. Her 1st marriage was in a different state. Is it possible to hide her 1st marriage & write single instead of divorced? Will her previous marriage show in the database while registering for the 2nd marriage. Will it create legal issue

it is always a safe bet to make full disclosure and as a legal professional I can never advice you to make false declaration. although at times the improbability of getting the truth unearthed tempt one to ignore such disclosure but when complication arises even a innocent but false declaration can make a whole lot of difference. however marriage register are state document and I'm not aware of inter state data sharing but then it's not authentic information. thanks & regards, Tanmoy Chattopadhyay, M.Sc (Net), LL.B (Delhi), Advocate, High Court, Calcutta.
