Can parents of an adult girl force her to stay with them

09-Jun-2023 (In Family Law)
Can the parents of a 23 years old girl file a complaint that she is missing, when she moves out without their permission and leaves a letter behind to inform that she is moving out? Will the girl informing the near by police station that she is moving out would help and avoid the complaint to track her?

Hi
The girl who has moved out of the house should inform the police station in person or through her advocate that she has moved out of the house on her own accord( major) and hence the complaint may be closed.
Normally the police need to close the complaint by giving residential address of the girl (which will definitely go to her parents) as well.
However the girl can go to the nearest District court and declare that she is independent and has moved on and hence the FIR may be closed through the court

yes. Being a major, the girl has absolute liberty to live her life and she cannot be forced even by her parents. The police will take the statement of girl and close the complaint. Despite that, if the girl is harassed either by the parents or police she can approach the court.
