Can a single male adopt a poor child at the age of 55 years
04-Jul-2023 (In Family Law)
I am 55 years old and presently residing in Delhi and working with Pvt. Company. I have ancestral property at my native place in U.P. My wife and son are living separately and they do not have any relation with me for last 5 years. Both have desire to sell my ancestral property, which I do not want. Since I am alone and no other person is with me to take care of me. For the purpose I am thinking to adopt a poor boy as my son. Please advise me whether it is legally possible?
Dear queriest,
As I understand your concern, you are interested in adopting a male child at the age of 55 years.
As per the brief facts stated by you in the query, I would state in affirmative that age is no bar for adoption provided the child you decide to adopt shall have an age difference of 21years from you i.e 34years or less.
I can further advice you only upon knowing your other details like religion, etc. and your child religion, etc.
