Can a husband refuse wife to help or be in touch with her parents

I have been in a non arranged marriage for 26 years We live in the US We have two adult children who are just finishing their college . My husband refuses to let me keep in touch with my parents in India or me help them as they are very ill and poor, does not let me keep in touch with my sister and constantly now claims I cheat him. He has helped with some limited upkeep of my fathers illness earlier grudgingly. I have been a stay at home mom with occasional jobs Now I have just resumed my career but he continues his daily rants. How do I assert my rights to look after my parents ? We are well off. We are American citizens .
As you are an American citizen you can file a complaint in that jurisdiction itself that cruelty is being inflicted upon you by your husband and appropriate action can be taken there itself. Apart from that you can even contact the Indian embassy in United States seeking their help.
Within Indian jurisdiction your parents can file a writ of habeas corpus in India and write a letter to the Ministry of External affairs seeking help. Madam, If you want to help openly you can assert your rights by openly doing what you want and send them money, which is legal even in American Laws. If you do not want to create any more ill-wills with your husband, you can find a way to send them moneys without him knowing about it.
