Adoption of child of wife's first marriage

23-Aug-2023 (In Family Law)
I have married to a widow few years back and she has a daughter from her first marriage. Baby's birth certificate is named as ABC with ref to her biological father name. However, in school records baby's name is recorded as XYZ and father name as mine. Now the issue I see is: 1. Birth certificate details are not matching with her school records. This would be a problem as she move on higher studies. now in 5std 2. It would also create problem when we apply for a passport or PAN etc. I would like to adopt her and complete the adoption process as per law. Views are solicited. thanks

HI
Since you have married a widow who had a child from first marriage, she can validly execute an adoption deed.
So better to move the district court for adoption and get the court orders(in your case it is very easy. you will get the order in 3/4 months.). Once you have the court orders, you can complete the adoption process and make all appropriate changes.
