Wrong report issued by police while verification for passport

i had applied for passport and police verification was done at my place and that time i was in the office. my old parents where at home and they told that he might be in office of might have gone to wifes mother's house since the chid is 10 months old.the police keep a note for visting at police station.. after two days i went there with documents and the office tells me that you dont stay there and stay at wife's mother place. i told them that stay in the house and i was in office when you visit . i have all the document proof. still the verification dept have send a adverse report and a show cause notice message have been received. what should i do.
