What is the procedure for forming a Scoiety?

We are 35 flat owners(including 7 flats belonging to the Land owner who is staying) in a BBMP area and we want to form a society. What are the registration procedures? Do we require a lawyers help or can we do it ourselves? The builder says he can handover the flat only after we form a society. Please assist.
For the registration of the society you do not need a lawyer. You can get it registered by the Registrar who has the jurisdiction of your area, under the Socities Registration Act
