State or Central OBC certificate required for higher education

31-May-2023 (In Documentation Law)
I'm a student and have passed my class XII (CBSE) Examination from Delhi. I want to apply to Delhi Universtiy under OBC category. I'm a permanent resident of Bihar and already have OBC Certificate from Bihar. So, to apply for admissions in DU, do I need Delhi or Bihar or Central OBC Certificate? My caste is in State (Delhi/Bihar) as well as Central OBC List. I belong to Non-Creamy Layer. I'm in confusion as I've completed my studies from Delhi but I'm permanent resident of Bihar. And is there any difference between Central and State OBC Certificate?

You can claim benefit of your Bihar OBC caste in Delhi only by you caste certificate in Bihar,  if your caste is also recognized in Delhi Union Territory as OBC. Or else if that caste is also OBC in central list. We would suggest you that to you should verify it first.

You will need a central OBC certificate. There is a difference in Central and State OBC Certificates because what may qualify as OBC in one state may not qualify as one in another state. Thus, each state has its own criteria. The safer option is to get a Central OBC certificate as that will be applicable throughout the country.
