Dear Sir,
A relinquishment Deed or Hakk Sod Patra has to be compulsorily registered under the Indian Registration Act read with the Bombay Stamp Act. Mutation of rights cannot be done without a registered Deed and accordingly the City Survey Officer has sought a registered document from you. You can execute and register a fresh deed subject to the terms and conditions between you and your brother.
