Procedure for name change on child birth certificate

Hi I would like to know what is the procedure of name change on child birth certificate as I went to MCG office today,they said name can not be changed.My father in law done the formalities of my daughter birth certificate when she was of 25 days without informing me. I don't like that name. Now she will turn 10 months & I want to change her name. Can anybody please help me what can be done.
A Deed Poll document allows you to get all records and documents changed to your new name. If you then apply for something that requires sight of your birth certificate, for example a passport, you can simply enclose your Deed Poll along with it.
