Marriage Certificate Issued By Registrar of Marriage

I got married 47 years ago at Trichy, T.Nadu (special marriage act/church/marriage certificate given by church). Do I have to go to Trichy to get my marriage certificate from the Office of the Registrar of Marriage, T.Nadu government , or can I apply for the same in chennai . I am Hindu wife is Catholic.
The marriage certificate will be issued only by the marriage officer under whose jurisdiction the marriage took place. In your case, the competent authority is at Trichy. Please be guided accordingly.
