How t.o get the name changed in the marksheet

My son's name appears as XYZ in his 10th marksheet and AB( his father's name) PQR in the 12th marksheet. He is now doing his CPL and DGCA has raised an objection to two different names. What should I do? Will an affidavit be enough or do I need to get the name changed in the gazette?
As per the CBSE rules they are very reluctant to make changes in the marksheet, it is not admissible to change it. You can send an application to CBSE for change of name. or else you can file a WRIT petition in the High Court for change in the.
