how to get Marriage Certificate Correction done?

06-Feb-2023 (In Documentation Law)
Hello, We got marriage certificate issued in 2014. The name of my wife was given as "A B C". Her original name on birth certificate (and all other govt issued documents) is "A D C". Her middle name was changed before marraige in 2012. (She was adopted, so her middlename was changed). We had made affidavits, newspaper ads, etc for the same. When she went for issuing "Passport", her marriage certificate was rejected. Reasons: the adoption is not possible for any child after age of 18 years. So basically her name change is invalid. Since marriage certificate was the only document, that she had with new name. We decided to change the name on marriage certificate itself. (Logically, the marriage registar should have not accepted the name change affidavit). Now we are told that marriage registar who signed the certificate, can only change it. Others cannot do it. (The earlier marrige register is not expelled from services) Please suggest what should we do.

Just go for affidavit presenting old name and new name with marriage certificate as a proof...
You need to give the newspaper advertisement regarding the change of name in your native city. Thats all.. keep few copies of newspaper and affidavit copy with you for any needful in future...
