Do he had to destroy old agreement to make a new agreement?

14-Jan-2023 (In Documentation Law)

In past we have signed one agreement for a period of 6 months and now we would like to extend it for another six months keeping same terms and conditions. However the new agreement is based on same transaction as the previous one. Now the other party is asking to destroy the old agreement before signing the new one. Do I need to keep the old agreement as well in such case or only new agreement is sufficient?

You should keep both the agreements as they are for same transaction. The other is the extension of the other.
Therefore keep both the agreements for your record. there is no significance in destroying the first agreement.
