Consequences of filing a fake passport document

My brother had submitted his passport as a proof for residential address in his office after changing his personal details. If the company finds out about the same, what is the legal action that can be taken by them or by the passport authorities?
If your brother’s company discovers about the changes made, they may terminate his services in the company or ask him to get the document rectified. In worst case scenarios, if they inform the passport authorities, he will be held liable for suppressing information and will have to pay a fine of Rs 500, if the concealed or suppressed information is regarding his marital status or name of spouse. However, if he has suppressed/concealed any personal details, he will have to pay a fine of Rs. 5000. In either of the cases, the court may punish him with an imprisonment for 2 years along with the fine.
