Whether desertion of wife without sufficient reason is a criminal offence? Hindus
Desertion by itself either by wife or husband is not a criminal offence. But if a husband deserts a wife not having income of her own for her living, then upon complaining or filing of a case against husband, failure to pay up the ordered amount of maintenance, he will be liable under criminal Law.
