What i the procedure for filing divorce.

what should i do if i want to divorce with my husband? my marriage date 5-10-2016. after marriage he is doing mental torture on me. and also demands dowry (35lacs). to get rid of this problem what should i do please suggest.
One can file a divorce after living separately from his/her spouse for a minimum period of 1 year. So you can live separately for now. File a petition asking for maintainance from your husband meanwhile.

According to Hindu Marriage Act you cannot file divorce within one year of ur marriage. But there is exception ,as per the provisions u/s 14 of the Hindu Marriage Act , divorce may be filed within one year of marriage. But your case is not exceptional so u have to wait for one year.

u have to file for divorce under the respective law eg if hindu then under hindu marriage act 1956 . Since he is doing torture u can file case u/s 498a . For dowry u can file case under Dowry prohibition act .
