Yes...the mother has got full rights to decide about the wellbeing of her child. And the father can't say anything in that and he is also duty bound to provide his child as well as his wife's monthly maintenance so that both of them can easily maintain themselves. If you are not Hindu , then it is not possible because as per Hindu Marriage Act father is the natural guardian of a child and just for sake of custody mother is given priority otherwise in all other decisions father is given priority
