after one year from the date of marriage which in this case as I understand will be the date of registration of your marriage. so it would be a one year wait for your friend before the petition for mutual divorce under section 28 spa 1954 can be filed. however under section 29 of spa 1954 the district judge can allow the petition before one year of marriage if certain conditions are met which are more the realm of an advocate to fish out to bring such relief to the parties.

you can apply for mutual divorce after one year of completion of marriage as per the statutory laws laid down under the laws of the land and before that you must lodge a complaint to keep your bonafide intent at the right place
