Request for Legal Guidance Regarding Fraud and Misconduct in My Cousin

22-Feb-2026 (In Divorce Law)
I am writing on behalf of my cousin brother to seek your legal advice and assistance regarding several serious issues that have come to light after his marriage. Misrepresentation of Education: At the time of marriage, the bride and her family claimed that she was a graduate. Later, it was discovered that she is actually an undergraduate. This fact was intentionally concealed. Concealment of Important Family Information: The bride’s family informed us that her mother has been receiving a pension for the past 15 years, whereas the pension started only 3 years ago. They also hid the fact that her sister is mentally challenged. Behavioural and Marital Misconduct: The bride frequently leaves the house without informing my cousin brother and returns late at night, sometimes around 12 a.m., without giving any explanation about her whereabouts.

These grounds—misrepresentation of education, concealment of facts, and behavioral misconduct—can support a petition for annulment or divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act. Legal action is advised as per the concerned provisions of law

If misrepresentation was material and proved, he may seek annulment for fraud or divorce for cruelty. Gather evidence first. Avoid allegations without proof. Legal notice and mediation may be considered.
