regarding the divorce and compensation.

my brother is an NRI , he came to india and got married and before marriage he was told that she had an educational loan of 30 lakhs which will be paid off by her parents. after marriage, they started compelling my brother to pay it off. Since he denied, his wife started abusing and mentally harrasing him in order to exhort money from him to pay off the loan. Most of time, she kept fighting and one day she attacked him with knife and attempted suicide. she is demading 15 lakhs for mutual divorce

hii...it is better to go for mutual divorce. your brother can bargain and pay less...otherwise she may start her harassment again a d again...try to settle it through the court...so that your brother can go for second marriage.
