quashing of fir u/s 498a ipc on the basis of settlement.

25-Jun-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Sir, I am a central govt employee. If 498a FIR is quashed on the basis of settlement reached between me and my wife, would it be acceptable to my office as honorable acquittal? As a case settled on the basis of compromise not accepted by govt office, then quashing of 498a FIR on the basis of settlement would be accepted by office and it would not affect my promotion aspects in future?

No...I don't think it should affect your promotion in future and quashing means you are free from the said FIR. And the FIR is generally quashed on the basis of settlement only. Just make sure that your wife follows all the terms and conditions as written in the settlement deed. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

This question pertains to your own department and you need to file RTI or do direct enquiry to your internal management. Once quashing is done it doesn’t impact your past present or future in legal sense. All the best

Dear sir The quashing of FIR is different from the law of plea bargaining. If you opt for the plea bargaining and your case is disposed off, it would be treated as you have been convicted and undergone sentence, which would certainly affect you service and promotion, etc. But, if you go for quashing of FIR based on the compromise it would not be treated as a conviction and you are good to go. Also, there is another way around that may be safer than these two. You may consult me if you're interested to know. Good luck!

Hello Sir, please note that FIR has already been registered but in matrimony cases it is expected the cases to settle as at times Norwal wear and tear leads to FIR which ultimately gets quashed please feel free to call us for better assistance Thanks
