Postpone the date of Court Hearing

I have divorce case filed in saket district court,my first court hearing date is scheduled on 5th July 2019. I have urgent office work on that day out of Delhi due to which i wont be able to attend the hearing.
Could you please tell me how i can change or postpone my hearing date.
Is there any way to do it directly by visiting court as i don't have a lawyer, my husband has hired the lawyer.
Hi. Just for clarification, have you insitutted the divorce petition without a lawyer? Furthermore, if you do not have a lawyer, you may have one represent you before Court with your travel details and have another date appointed. If you do not appear on your first court date hearing the Court has an adverse inference against you.

You can simply inform your husbands counsel or you can hire a counsel for on date and ask him to seek time on your behalf on the ground mentioned by you and he can also provide relevant document in regard of the same if available.

Getting an adjournment is not a troublesome chore. As you don't have a lawyer, you may send a close relative or family member who may request the Court on your behalf to postpone the first hearing to a later date. However, it is advisable to have a lawyer even if the divorce is mutual as the same shall ensure that all your rights remain secure and the proceedings remain unprejudiced.
