The requirement to apply for divorce on any ground is that both husband and wife must have been living separately from each other atleast for a period of 1 year, in your case you have been living apart from last 12 years therefore you qualify for divorce.
Now under what ground do you wish to file for divorce, whether it is on the ground of desertion, cruelty, or any other ground must be determined, if not if both of you wish to apply you may do so on the ground of mutual consent, it solves both your problems and will be done within 6 months.

You can file divorce if you wish. If you both are not interested in continuing the relationship, opt for mutual consent divorce. Its good for moth of you and easiest method for separation.

If your spouse is not willing to agree for divorce, you can file divorce petition against her under relavrnt provisions.
