My wife and I are not living together, we're not divorced. We have 2 kids. She's not employed. Legally speaking, am I liable to pay anything to her? If I refuse, would I be arrested?

No matter even if I live together or separated ., you wear the hat of a husband by law So as per sec 125Crpc You are bound to maintain wife If u refuse to pay ., arrest is just one of the consequences There are several ways to recover alimony for U through court of law

First of all police cannot force you to do anything in matrimonial matters. If your wife needs any relief she has to approach the courts by filing appropriate petition. Depending on her financial status you may or may not be liable to pay maintenance.
