Medical Termination of pregnancy

28-Apr-2026 (In Divorce Law)
Hello Sir, My friend who is 27 years old and unmarried got pregnant with a person who has escaped taking responsibility for her and his child. She is unmarried and looking for help in an emergency. She is 22 weeks (5.5 months) pregnant and willing to abort her child as she is not in a financial state to recover the expenses of childbirth. She keeps asking hospitals to terminate the pregnancy but because the length of gestation is 22 weeks nobody is willing to abort the child right now.help her

Under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971, termination up to 24 weeks is allowed in certain cases (including unmarried women) with approval of two registered medical practitioners. At 22 weeks, she must approach a government hospital/authorized centre for evaluation- delay can make it harder. If doctors refuse, she can seek urgent permission from the High Court for medical termination. I can assist you with the legal process and connect with the right medical/legal authorities

In order to go for abortion, she needs to approach the Court seeking permission for the same. Unless the Court permits, no hospital or surgeon would undetake such step. Feel free to contact me for seeking any legal advice/assistance as regards the same.

you need to find a good hospital to do the procedure if the gestation period of 24 weeks is over then you will require Court permission to do the abortion so without delay you can ask aur police to help upon which demite refer you to government hospital for this process

She may seek urgent opinion from a Gynecologist and file petition before High Court/Sessions through advocate under MTP Act citing mental, financial and social hardship. Also claim maintenance/paternity later.

A common first step is to send a detailed legal notice to the biological father at his last known address, demanding financial support and fulfillment of his responsibilities. If he fails to respond or comply, you can approach the court.
