Marriage certificate - only xerox available

I applied for divorce on ground of unsound mind however, I only have a xerox copy of the marriage registration and certificate. The other party is not willing to give the original - would it be a problem if I proceed with the xerox copy and not have the original?

Not a problem. You need mention in your petition that the original marriage certificate is with the other side. Or else you can apply for a duplicate marriage certificate from the registering authority and replace the photocopy with it.
