If you have lost your divorce documents, you need to obtain a certified copy of your divorce decree from the specific court where the divorce was finalized. You can easily retrieve these records by filing

Dear Madam Your fiance can obtain a certified copy of the divorce decree by applying directly to the copyist section of the court that passed the final order He needs to file an application stating the case number party names and year of disposal along with the required court fee stamps In case the case number is not known a search application can be filed in the family court office to locate the file records A local advocate can easily present this application and collect the certified copy on his behalf

To obtain an official certified copy of a divorce decree for your client, you must follow a structured court application process to secure a document bearing the court’s official seal and authorized signature. First, gather all necessary case details, including the 16-digit CNR number, case or petition number, exact names of both parties, year of disposal, and the specific Family Court location where the final judgment was pronounced. Next, submit a formal Copying Application (C.A.) at the court's dedicated copying section or record room; alternatively, check if the specific district court supports an online request via the official eCourts portal. If you are filing on behalf of your client, accompany the application with a signed Vakalatnama or authorization letter alongside your advocate credentials, or attach the client’s valid government photo ID if they are applying directly. Pay the prescribed court fee stamps based on page count and retain the official acknowledgement receipt to track processing. Since clients frequently need to present original certified copies across multiple institutions—such as passport offices, financial institutions, or property registrars—it is best practice to apply for two or three certified copies simultaneously during the initial filing.
